Year 7 Catch up funding

              The Literacy and Numeracy Catch-up Premium

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve at least level 4 in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).

All state-funded schools with year 7 pupils receive this funding.

In 2016-7

In 2016-7 we expect to receive funding for 7 pupils in Year 7. We have allocated this funding towards strategies which include:



To extend the use of  ICT Dyscalculia programme called Dynamo Maths  -annual fee, user access and resources


To introduce ‘Nessy’ which is based on Letters and Sounds, to further improve phonetical awareness


Allocated a Booster Group Teacher a Literacy Teacher 2 mornings a week to support individuals/small groups with reading and writing



Use volunteers at least 3 times a week to improve the number of opportunities to practice reading/hear reading

No cost

To complete, implement and monitor progress against the learning Intentions taken from our Learning Intention Banks to ensure consistent and challenging use of intentions and to ensure all pupils have a target set for their end of year attainment which ensures rigour and high expectation


Train all the staff in strategies for developing writing (estimated) 16th November 2016


Pupil Progress Meetings to take place at the end of each term with all Teachers to analyse progress and impact of strategies

  Using this funding we wish to further improve access to writing for all pupils and phonetical awareness and use.
