Dorset Special School Swimming Gala at Dorchester- 3rd May
Our roving reporter, Owen from Studland Class, shares his report on the success of the Montacute Swimmers at the Dorset Special Schools Swimming Gala:
"On 3rd of May 2017 children from Montacute school went to a swim gala at Dorchester. The children that went were Pippa, Teddy, Owen, Dan, Eden, Georgia, Charlie, Lee, Dacre, Callum, Beth and Christian. The children worked really hard but they had lots of fun. We all got medals but some got bronze and some got silver but some got gold.
Teddy said, "it was really good". Dan said, "it was quite good".
Team Montacute did so well they came third overall! WELL DONE!!
29th March 2017-
Branksome Class went to the Seated Volleyball Festival at Canford School!
"It was amazing! We won medals!"
Thank you to everyone who was involved in the organisation, and to all the participants for their wonderful sportsmanship and volleyball skills!
We raised £132 by making and selling cakes for Red Nose Day. Everyone dressed up in something red for the day too! Well done everyone!
Our new Gym equipment has arrived!
Using our Sports Premium money, we have just got some fab new climbing equipment for Lower and Middle School to use in the hall as part of sensory circuits and PE lessons.
Already Upton class have been exploring the different pieces of equipment and learning to climb and move over different surfaces carefully and with lots of skill. The equipment is also being used to help our pupils learn where they can climb appropriately and safely! It has also been a great activity to get to know our friends too!
We raised £95 dressing up as Super Heroes, and £65 selling cakes! It was an amazing day with some fab costumes!
Well done School Council for coming up with the ideas for activities and for the chosen charity! Many thanks for all the cake contributions!
Football Club is starting again at Montacute Tuesday 3.30-4.30pm from Tuesday 27th September.
Dorset FA and Dexters Football Club run a Football Club for older Montacute Pupils on Tuesdays after school.
Dexters are a local Football club based at Ashdown, who run several teams for young people with disabilities, including a wheelchair football team and a team for young people with learning disabilities. At the moment they are trying to also start a football team for girls with disabilities
Football Club is led by Paul from Dexters, and supported by volunteers including Jordan, Paige, Katie and Sarah, four of our talented Teaching Assistants, and Liam who is a wonderful student from Poole Grammar School.
If your child is interested in joining Football Club, please let Paula know!
Upper School have taken part in Shakespeare's Schools Festival and performed 'The Tempest' at Poole Light House on the 30th November.
We were honoured to be performing our play on the very last night of the entire 2016 Festival which involved over 1000 schools across the country and over 250,000 children and young people!
Our Students achieved a standing ovation for their performance! Well done Montacute Cast, which included all the pupils from Upper School at some stage in the rehearsals, creating the script, collecting props, being part of the live on stage orchestra, as well as being the actors on the night! A huge thank you to Natalie, Amy and Sue for directing this truly uniquely accessible version of Shakespeare's classic play, and to all the staff who supported too! A special mention to the talented young people from Poole Grammar School and Leaf Academy who supported our students on stage so professionally and with such skill!
