MT Club and Shakespeare's Schools Festival
MT Club performed their production of 'The Tempest' in the Lighthouse Theatre in Poole on 30th November!
We were honoured to be performing our play on the very last night of the entire 2016 Festival which involved over 1000 schools across the country and over 250,000 children and young people!
Our Students achieved a standing ovation for their performance! Well done Montacute Cast, which included all the pupils from Upper School at some stage in the rehearsals, creating the script, collecting props, being part of the live on stage orchestra, as well as being the actors on the night!
A huge thank you to Natalie ( Head of Upper School) , Amy ( Head of Lower School) and Sue ( our Dance Teacher) for directing this uniquely accessible version of Shakespeare's classic play, and to all the staff who supported too! A special mention to the talented young people from Poole Grammar School and Leaf Academy who supported our students on stage so professionally and with such skill!
Pippa was an amazing Prospero performing magic, and Ellie May played her role as Miranda with elegance and style. Sapphire performed the role of Caliban stupendously and was a very convincing scary monster! While Tanisha in her role as Ariel the naughty fairy, sang beautifully and used her wand magically. Prince Ferdinand was played by Liam who was extremely convincing and bought the whole audience to tears with the love song he sang to Miranda! Lee and Natalie were amazingly good in their roles as the drunken sailors!
The Kimmeridge on stage orchestra including Joe, Julia and Toby, were musically 'spot on'! They really added atmosphere to the production with the carefully timed music and use of instruments.
